The College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC) has engaged local design and development firm YARD & Company to help the neighborhood creatively consider redevelopment options for the historic Hollywood Theatre in the neighborhood’s business district.
The Hollywood Theatre Building is the most iconic building in College Hill. Getting it right is critical,” said Seth Walsh, Executive Director of the College Hill CURC. “I cannot wait to see what creative development options these national experts come up with for the building, as it will undoubtedly become an iconic landmark for generations to come.”
YARD & Company and CHCURC have selected three national experts in the fields of real estate finance, theater operations and placemaking to come to Cincinnati, meet with local experts and develop recommendations for the theatre and surrounding buildings. The three-day process will take place from 9/29-10/1, and conclude with a virtual and in-person event in the theatre parking lot on 10/1 from 7:30-9:00 p.m., in which the experts will present their recommendations to the community at large. Safe and spatially distanced tours of the building will also be offered from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Click here to register for the in-person event and for more general information about the project.
It is the hope of the project leaders and funders that the recommendations will be useful for communities and neighborhoods across the region that are also struggling to redevelop historic theaters in their downtowns and commercial mixed-use districts. The project is supported by the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation.
“We are extremely excited for this event and happy to help College Hill and the region generate creative ideas for the reuse of historic theaters,” said Eric Avner, Vice President & Senior Program Manager at the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation.”
