How to Support REAL
The Real Estate Accelerator Lab (REAL) was launched in October 2019 as an industry-supported program designed to educate and mentor the next generation of Greater Cincinnati real estate professionals. REAL graduated its first class in May 2020 with REAL 2.0 graduating its cohort in May 2021 and REAL 3.0 graduating in May 2022. The cohorts included Cincinnati region early and mid-career professionals who participated in a nine-month training program designed to expand the diversity of race, ethnicity and gender in commercial real estate and give participants the opportunity to gain technical skills and make deep connections to top local development executives.
REAL provides essential immersive training in commercial real estate development and investment fundamentals for women and people of color, who previously have been under-represented in the industry, especially in its higher-profile positions. REAL was created by the local chapters of Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and is supported by dozens of Cincinnati regional firms that represent all facets of commercial development, design, finance, and economic and community development. The financial and in-kind support goes directly to scholarships in the form of tuition, ensuring that the program remains accessible to those needing assistance.
The program has made Cincinnati stronger by the industry supporting future leaders, teaching deal complexity, finance, community engagement and other essential elements of successful real estate investing and development and confirming that real estate will build wealth.
If you know of an individual or company who is able to provide support to the REAL program, contact cincinnati@uli.org for more information.
