Letter from outgoing Chair, Tom Rowe

Dear ULI Cincinnati Members:

First and foremost, I would like to thank our sponsors for making everything we do possible.  Please support them as they support us.

This is my last update as ULI Cincinnati District Council Chair and I would like to welcome Dan McCarthy of CORE Resources as our next Chair.  Dan has been a very active member of our District Council for over 10 years.  ULI Cincinnati is lucky to have such a passionate leader at the helm.  Please join me in welcoming Dan.

One of the things our members requested in our recent survey was more opportunities to engage with ULI.  Our District Council has worked hard to fulfill this request and it is bearing fruit as our membership is growing quickly.  ULI Cincinnati continues its focus on delivering quality opportunities for our members to learn and to engage.  A few notable updates are as follows:

Programs: We work to provide programs that are innovative and provide information and perspective you can’t garner elsewhere.

Womens’ Leadership Initiative: Our WLI group continues to grow and to host wonderful events.  Please keep your eyes out for the next event coming soon.

TAPs (Technical Assistance Panel):
o    Price Hill Incline District TAP – We held a TAP in conjunction with the UC Economics Center consisting of some of the top leaders in the real estate industry to provide perspective to the redevelopment opportunities afforded in the Price Hill community.
o    Building Healthy Places TAP – We will be conducting a TAP in September to study an area in the Covington community slated for redevelopment with healthy living in mind.

Local Design Competition:
ULI has partnered with UC Real Estate and UC DAAP to conduct a local competition for UC students that will be oriented around resolving a real estate issue in the Cincinnati market.  The competition requires design, planning, development and finance expertise to complete the project.  Please look for more information on this exciting effort coming soon.

ULI Cincinnati has many rewarding opportunities to get involved.  If you are interested in learning how to get engaged in the city’s most innovative and active real estate organization, please contact us right away.

In closing, thank you all for your continued support of ULI.  Most importantly, I would like to share a special thank you with the members of our Management Committee who have provided the leadership and energy necessary to propel ULI to the next level.
