    ULI Cincinnati and UC Real Estate Center are pleased to present a special program featuring current community revitalization projects in Greater Cincinnati on October 14.

    The program will include introduction and opening remarks followed by a panel discussion and Q&A to include Tom Powers, Cushman & Wakefield; John Yung, Urban Fast Forward; and Carl Goertemoeller, UC Real Estate Center.

    This event kicks off the UC Roundtable season and brings a wealth of information to members and future members of ULI Cincinnati and the UC Roundtable.  Learn what Placemaking is and how it contributes to successful projects throughout the region.



    John Yung

    Director of Planning, Urban Fast Forward

    John Yung has dedicated his 15-year career towards advancing communities in development, planning, and zoning. As the lead planning consultant for Urban Fast Forward, he works to develop communities focusing on revitalizing and enriching city centers and neighborhoods. Mr. Yung is skilled in land use code analysis, development plan review, and project implementation and has expertise in engaging community members and elected officials. His work has included comprehensive planning, economic development, zoning codes, public speaking, community engagement, and urban forestry. He is a member of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber NextGen Transportation Committee, the Urban Land Institute Cincinnati Mission Advancement Committee, a founding board member of the CNU-Midwest Chapter and a former member of the Over-the-Rhine Foundation Board. He was a manager and contributor to the blog UrbanCincy.com and podcast and contributed over 80 articles to the blog where his work appeared in various publications including NextCity, Streetsblog.com and the Cincinnati Business Courier. He has coordinated various roundtable discussions related to urban issues in Cincinnati with the University of Cincinnati Niehoff Urban Studio. He was part of the 2015 ICMA Professional Fellows Program and a member of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber C-Change Leadership Program Class 12. When he is not working hard to make cities and towns better places, he plays guitar, runs half-marathons, and makes craft cocktails for friends.


    Matt Starr

    Executive Vice President of Commercial Real Estate, Crawford Hoying

    As Executive Vice President of Commercial Real Estate and Leasing at Crawford Hoying, Matt is heavily involved in every development project and leads all commercial real estate transactions for the company. He manages an experienced team of commercial agents and is responsible for oversight of the commercial leasing strategy and programming for all of the company’s properties. In addition, Matt oversees many of the company’s development-related real estate acquisitions. Matt’s extensive real estate experience gives him a unique perspective that provides a competitive advantage to all Crawford Hoying projects. He has a genuine interest in building and maintaining tenant relationships, which has driven vibrancy and revenue in every community he has helped to develop.


    Dan Neyer

    President/CEO, Neyer Properties, Inc.

    Dan has been involved with the commercial real estate and construction industry for over thirty-five years, continuing the family heritage that began over 100 years ago in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. In 1995, Dan formed Neyer Properties, Inc. to pursue his vision of creating value in office, retail, industrial, medical and, most recently, hospitality and multi-family products. Neyer Properties is a fully integrated real estate company specializing in development, construction, financing and management of sustainable land and building developments, with properties in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Dan is highly respected and knowledgeable in all phases of the development of commercial real estate and uses his leadership and experience to be an advocate for positive change in our community. He has been directly involved in the development of over 3,000 acres of property and over 500 building and development projects, totaling well over $1.5 billion in value.


    Tom Banta

    Managing Director, Corporex Companies, LLC

    Tom is a real estate professional with more than 36 years with Corporex Companies. During his tenure, the company built over 25 million square feet of commercial real estate, including more than 40 hotels, 24 office buildings, two luxury condominium projects and six business parks. With Corporex projects from coast to coast, Tom has been instrumental in changing skylines with projects like RiverCenter and Madison Place in Covington and Ovation in Newport, Kentucky, and an expanding presence in Colorado with unique residential, office and retail projects. Tom is Chairman of the Board of Directors for Northern Kentucky Tri-Ed, serves as a board member for REDI Cincinnati and the Butler Foundation, and is very active in the Greater Cincinnati business community. He served as a board member for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce and Eagle Hospitality, a NYSE publicly traded hospitality REIT, from the time of inception until August 2007 when the REIT was sold in a market-based transaction. Tom is a graduate of Indiana University with a dual degree in finance and real estate administration.


    Nick Lingenfelter

    Chief Development Officer, PLK Communities

    Nick has over 18 years of experience in the Commercial Real Estate industry and began partnering with PLK in 2014. He currently oversees the development team focusing on the entire project cycle from site identification, project vision, entitlements, design and end resident experience. Nick believes that good development is environmentally conscious, pushes design forward, and provides an emotional connection for residents. He has significant experience in Tax Credit Financing, TIFs, Bonds, Brownfield Developments, Historic Redevelopments, and ground-up new construction. Before joining PLK, he spent 13 years as a Commercial Real Estate banker in Chicago and Cincinnati. Nick graduated from The Ohio State University and is a proud husband to an amazing wife (Jessica) and father to two children (Eli and Zoe). When he is not at work, he is still working and dreams of fishing and the beach.
