WLI Coffee with a Game Changer: Alicia Townsend
Get to know some of Cincinnati’s most engaging leaders in this unique members-only series organized by ULI Cincinnati’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI). In this series, Coffee with a Game Changer, featured leaders will participate in a conversation where members will hear both the challenges and highlights of their professional story.
Currently Community Development Manager, Alicia is responsible for Community Reinvestment Act performance measures for the state of Ohio Metro markets. Alicia began her banking career at the First National Bank in Cincinnati in 1988 in a specialized group in Personal Trust. Her career at now U.S. Bank spans a period of 29 years. Alicia was a founding Board member of the U.S. Bank Development Network in 1997 and is the President of the Cincinnati African American Business Resource Group.
Alicia is also experienced in Public and Non Profit business sectors – managing the City of Cincinnati’s Small Business Division and Office of Contract Compliance and Non Profit Management as the first Executive Director of the Greater Cincinnati Microenterprise Initiative and an Affordable Housing Commercial Real Estate Underwriter at a local Community Development Financial Institution, the Cincinnati Development Fund.
Alicia has a BS degree in Business Administration and Management from Xavier University and MBA from Thomas More College.
Alicia is a graduate of Leadership Cincinnati Class 35. She was recognized by the Cincinnati Community Development Association as Lender of the Year in 2011. Alicia is currently on the board of the Greater Cincinnati YWCA and serves as Co-Chair of the Racial Justice Committee, she is also on the board Brighton Properties in Northern Kentucky serving as Treasurer. Other board activity includes the Economic & Community Development Institute in Columbus. Alicia served on the boards of Women Helping Women, Affordable Housing Advocates, Greater Cincinnati CDC Association and the Greater Cincinnati Advisory Board. Appointed by Mayor John Cranley she is a current member of the City of Cincinnati’s Healthy Living Taskforce. Alicia’s volunteer and civic involvement dates back over 30 years and includes being, a volunteer Mentor with Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, a Mayoral Appointment to the Cincinnati Community Development Advisory Board; former Vice President, Interfaith Hospitality Network Board; past member of Metro Moves Advisory Council. She is also a graduate of the Urban League’s African American Leadership Development Program; 2002 Recipient of the YWCA Rising Star Award; recipient of the 2001 Leading Women’s Award in the category of Corporate Finance; 1999 Recipient of the Business Courier’s Forty Under 40 Award; and a 1996 YMCA Black Achiever.
