WLI: Feminine Urbanism: Planning a City for Women
Women drive the majority of living and buying decisions for households, but have a minority stake in the real estate industry which creates the built environment. This half-day workshop will explore what women really want out of their urban environments and how we can make those environments more women-focused. Led by nationally renowned ULI retail specialist Maureen McAvey and local urban real estate specialist Kathleen Norris, we’ll investigate, through small focus groups, female preferences for land uses in the urban core, including housing, employment, transportation, recreation, etc. and their relationship to each other. The day will culminate in a large-group discussion on how we can advance the cause of women in a male-dominated industry.
